A collaboration with performance and visual artist Marc Travanti in 1995 resulted in the historic recording of "Copy". This song was one of the first recordings made at the old Chelsea PreFab studio.
Based around a poem written by Travanti and featuring several of his sound collage audio pieces, "Copy" stands today as it did then — a timeless piece that scrambles the boundaries between music, art, and performance.
The Styrenes
Phil has collaborated with the New York based band The Styerenes a couple of times in recent years. Check out Phil's harmonica work on the The Styrenes CD We Care So You Don't Have To available from Scat Records of St. Louis, Missouri.
Phil also co wrote and sang lead on their song "Cold Christmas Eve". This song appears on the And Every Year Christmas CD released in Germany.
True completists will procure a copy of the Gammage composition "Heavy Streets" recorded by The Styrenes on a vinyl 45 in 2000. This song also appears on the band Amoeba Raft Boy CD Bad Fuggum from the Mysterium (Smog Veil Records of Incline Village, Nevada).
